How is it possible after four kids I STILL suck at this?!?!
Our current routine is... she latches. Perfectly. Has since they handed her to me in recovery.
She stays latched for less than five minutes a boob. Gets bored. Refuses to relatch. No matter what. I'll be sitting there full of let down milk and she won't eat from the source. Aggravating. Get a breast pump from family because I'm in major pain.... and thank goodness because she loves it from the bottle but has the attention span of a gnat on the boob.
I DON'T GET IT!!

The funny thing about babies is that they don't give a shit about what we want them to do. If your baby likes the bottle, then it's because she likes the bottle. It's nothing you did or didn't do. You're winning if your baby's fed, chica.

Have you tried pumping for a minute before nursing her? It sometimes helps them latch, because you know, your nipples are like 2 inches long at that point.

I'll second that
I used to have to squirt out a full 4oz bottle on each side, just to reduce the pressure so they could latch on. I never even used a pump, just aimed and squeezed. I feel you on the blue boobs!

I've tried that and also warm towels on the tatas to help me let down some before putting her on Lol she just gets bored! Like... we are good and cooking with grease and the milk is flowing and she's like "look...squirrel..."
Can babies get boob ADD? Is that a thing? Lol

It might be flowing so fast that she gets full quickly. The bottle nipples probably have MUCH slower flow. Is she hungry really quickly after she nurses? Maybe a good burp and try again? Seriously - she might be getting plenty, and fast!
Oh, the memories of babes unlatching and my milk shooting across the room...good times.

Ryan never nursed for long, and I could never feed him on one side, burp, then switch to the other side. So he pretty much nursed constantly and even to this day he does NOT eat large portions of anything, ever.
If I had to go back and do it again, I'd have pumped before I fed him to see if I could get him to eat more at one sitting. Or, pumped the other breast while he nursed on one side so when he did eat again (soon) he'd maybe take more and get more full. But who knows if that would have worked.
I could nurse him on one side and hold a bottle under the other nipple and drip 2 oz, I made a TON of milk, lol!

Well I'm trying to just give her what I can pump and what she gets the few minutes she's latched. And be happy with that. We are already doing far better than poor P did, and I refuse to put pressure on myself. She's being supplemented a few bottles a day and getting two good breast bottles a day. The goal is feed baby. I'm content that she's getting SOME breast milk. It's better than none

I could nurse him on one side and hold a bottle under the other nipple and drip 2 oz, I made a TON of milk, lol! Every woman but me, apparently. I exclusively breastfed. My babies thrived. But pumping? Terrible. 30 mins. and I would get, like 4 oz. Total! I have never understood that. It makes going back to work and wanting to avoid formula, well, tricky. If I could make my babies get fat rolls on breastmilk alone, why couldn't I pump? Had a great breastpump. Tried all the tricks to increase production. Nada. I'm still bitter. I always wanted to donate breastmilk. Never could. Side note. Probably told this story before, but I did save and freeze 2 bags of G's milk for Eli. Because....Eli used to get pink eye all the time. Got tired of the doctor visits and the scrips. I heard a few people swear a drop or two of breastmilk in the eyes...magic cure. I tried it, and no shit, the next day that kid was fine. And that milk still worked when it had been in the freezer for 2 years. I never would have fed it to a baby at that point, but I kept it until Eli grew out of that phase. I bet breastmilk does all kinds of good things we don't know about.

That's awesome! Pumping sucked for me too, it would start off strong but once he was exclusively on the tit my boobs were like aww hell naw. I ended up freezing a few bags but he refused a bottle and I never forced it (I kinda wish I had) because I was 'stuck' with him on my boobs constantly. I'm glad I did it though.

It would be easier and less time consuming if she wouldn't get bored Lol She's just like "aaaand I'm done" lol

That was the impossible part with P. She stood no chance with L and G both being so little. And even though they are all bigger now frankly if I didn't have help I wouldn't be bothering. There would be no time. I'm still not sure how it's going to go when L goes back to work. Her eating schedule is an hour off what I need it to be but I'm thinking I can make it work give or take fifteen minutes. (She currently eats @ 8, 12, 4 repeat. It should be OK but that 8 am and 4 pm feeding will likely be at 8:15-30 and 4:15-30)
Trying to get her in a pattern that fits the rest of the family has been easier this time since I've done it before. (Can't feed on demand. My life simply doesn't allow for it)
