You need to stop being so damn southern and just unfriend people. #blesstheirhearts I spent about an hour hitting unfollow on every awful thing in my feed after that phone call and it was so many people I just got angry and gave up. Ironically going back to the browser version and being forced to log in means I've only looked at Facebook long enough the last 24 hours to know my brother and his family have started their trek towards Texas. And my cousin bought a new washer and dryer. The true test of my Christianity will be next week. When my very liberal brother and I will be surrounded by trump voters at my dad's family reunion. Send me so many good thoughts rofl |

I told him a week ago we need to hire an exterior house painter no matter what the cost because it's too much to accomplish by himself and still help me with the inside.
Today.... Facing a week full of rain and almost out of his vacation..... And we need to be ON THE MARKET NEXT MONDAY. ..."it's too much.. I'm running out of time and I'm not even done prepping to paint and we still have the inside to work on.. We need to hire someone "
Getting to say I told you so this much is kinda addictive.

Just popping in to say hi, and tell you all how great my tan is.
Good luck on the house thing, Chelsea. FWIW, I think there is a balance to be found on FB. While I realize that the events of the last week are intensely disheartening, and important, it's easy to get swallowed.
Letting a few assholes run you off of fb is silly. You're giving them too much power. Delete everyone and start over. Remember back in the day, when people didn't discuss religion or politics? It's shit like this. Social media is divisive. Stay in the discussion. Listen. Show kindness. I read today where Bill Nye was talking about racism and division. He said something like, "You know what you get when a Nigerian woman and a Nordic man have a baby? A human."
We can all be more human. I know I can do better.
But first, paint. :-)

I would not have been so disheartened if it we're just a few. Examples : (some of which I at the time ss and sent to a friend who is a black police officer so he could maybe reach out. The community really respects him. )

Yeah, my feed is comparatively tame and mostly supportive. I come from very hippy/liberal Washington, so my family and most of my older friends are very supportive of every 'quest for equality' whether it's BLM or LGBTQ, women's rights, body image. We're a "smile on your brother" bunch. On the other hand, now living in one of the most notoriously intolerant states, some of my newer friends disappoint me. It's not as bad as your feed, Hangers, but there is a lot of #alllivesmatter and #bluelivesmatter in my feed. These are the same friends that support Trump and are completely intolerant of immigration reform. While I wouldn't stop being friends with them, it's hard for me not to feel less connected with them. |

Um. No. I haven't. Because I know most of the "young black men" in our area or was at least classmates with a relative. I smile, wave, and ask how their mama is. Ffs. And I know some asshole black people. And Asian people. And my husband is a self race hater because he can't stand Mexicans but is 1/8th minimum Mexican. (I don't get this. At all.) I know lots of assholes of all races. But the overwhelming majority of them are white.
And seriously, if you're grocery shopping or at Walmart late and that paranoid about being attacked in a parking lot, request a carry out. The hard working black or Hispanic teenager will happily walk you out and load your car for you. Because they are not out causing trouble like the thugs you'd like to portray them to be. They are working for movie and candy money.
