I use Facebook like my parents used a newspaper but in real time. Registration for every activity my kids are in was announced on facebook, I follow a dozen different local and global news sources, my local politicians, the local power company for updates on power outages, the local football team that I don't care about so I can talk about it with people at work lol, town council, town library, town rec board etc. Every birthday party my kids go to they've been invited over my Facebook, I have a handful of friends who don't text, so we use Facebook messenger.
I almost never go on people's pages, I don't use Facebook for facebooking. I use it for news, community updates and invites and texting.

I'm on there sometimes, but I don't really like to post. Too much of a mix of too many audiences. I'll get on there sometimes and want to share something or comment. Then I'll get anxiety about who's going to see it and whether or not they'll take it in the proper context. I start worrying that what I say will start drama, because there's enough of that on FB without me. I also have a couple of customers (I'm an idiot) and friends of current employees on there. I second guess everything to death until I finally just delete it all and close the app.

I'm too paranoid to say anything I want to say on there because I feel like anything I put out there can reflect on me professionally, and it can. And I've put a lot of work into that. So meh. Also it is such a negative place! Full of debaters and negative nancies bitching about this and that. Also everyone has a fucking cause that they need me to support. I'm too drained for that stuff! I scroll through until I see something ridiculous then I either hide the post or flee facebook for a little bit, because I don't have the energy to be a facebook debater.
BUT I do love when other people post their drama and dirty laundry on there. Not gonna lie, I follow dramatic FB'ers for kicks sometimes. Did we used to have the popcorn smiley? I would use it right here if we did..

I used to participate in silly drama but I don't think I have in a while. I've been unfollowing allot of people lately, too many eye rolls. I'm thinking about shutting it down, it's a huge time suck.

I love that I can keep in touch with my family (especially my siblings & cousins) who are sprinkled all over the US. Growing up, we were all really close so its nice to be able to see photos of their families & what's going on in their lives.
Sugarless, everything you said about it being such a negative place is so true. The debating and the political or religious ranting/anti-religion crap is so over the top & just stupid. I cannot stand the people who are so obviously just trying to start shit. I should block everyone but my family & you guys.

I don't participate in the drama posts. I just watch then and then interpret the behavior. It's the therapist in me!

I came back from my hiatus and have taken to basically calling out this bullshit town on their bullshit as it arises.
I've lost a few real life "friends" over it. And don't care. They quick to have an opinion and talk behind folks back over something I say on Facebook.
I actually had a woman flat tell someone she's not speaking to me until I apologize for deleting a thread off my page wherein she made an ass out of herself. Lol
My exact response. No.
I'm done with Facebook in the "traditional" sense. I play on it and post when the mood strikes or of something catches my eye. Sometimes I'll go days or a full week without pulling it up. It's... Like a magazine in a waiting room. "How bored am I today?"
