How long do you wait on people trying to earn your business?
In this instance, Window World. They were supposed to be here at 2 to give me an estimate on windows and siding. They called me twice in the last 24 hours and sent an email to confirm. It wasn't like the cable company where "we will be there between 2 and 5 pm" it was "we will see you at 2"
As of now they are 40 minutes late and I have shit to do this afternoon. I've decided they aren't getting my business by virtue of unprofessional behavior. L says give them a little more time.
Their quote will have to be stupid cheap. And they only have until 3:15.

Have you called them to find out where the tech is? My guy actually called me that morning to see if I wanted to move my appointment up because he had cancellations. He was super nice.
Vivienne had a screw up and didn't show in the time frame they said but when I called apparently it was a new technician and he was running behind, like an hour. They recognized that he should have called me but since he was new he just didn't know. I told them it was no problem and that we should just reschedule and hopefully taking me off his list would help him get caught up. Yes, it was a waste of my day but meh, they were super nice about it so I was fine.
Same thing happened with my internet install. Never showed and when I called they were super apologetic and gave me a free month of service.
I would call, it might just be unforeseen circumstances and maybe they'll offer you a discount because of it!

I left a message. No answer. They have until 3:15. I indicated in my message I had allotted them 60-90 minutes per THEIR appointment setter and had scheduled my day around it.
They don't show its on them.

Hmm, well that's unfortunate. My experience was good.

Several people recommended them. Frankly I'm surprised and disappointed. I had high hopes for a decent quote.

Well maybe it's something out of their control? I'd certainly go about my day if I have other things to do. My guy literally took 15-20 minutes to demonstrate and count windows and sit down and write an estimate.

No idea. I don't understand going out of your way to confirm three times and no one showing up or calling and not returning messages

Yeah, that's not cool. When it happened with Vivint I was able to talk to someone who was finally able to put me through to the right person. Apparently the chick who set up my scheduled appointment jacked it all up and I wasn't even on the schedule. But they were very apologetic and made it happen. Same with my internet--they got someone out right away. If it's incompetence that's a pretty shitty first impression, lol. It's not cool that you can't even talk to a human about it.

They supposedly called me twice to see if they could come early (no they didn't) left me two seperate voice mails (no. They didn't) and then gave up and called my.husband and told HIM in a voicemail that our house didn't exist on Google maps (it does) and he couldn't find us and was just gonna have to reschedule.
Larry called him back just now and said the guy seemed irritated as fuck about having had an appointment with a woman, wanted to know when HE would be home to deal with instead, and that he swears he tried to call me and I just didn't answer (phone didn't ring not once and I have no new voicemails)
Not impressed. Supposedly someone will try and reschedule for Monday or Tuesday. I won't be going out of my way to make an effort.

Now I'm dealing with the myriad of people in my supposed world whose baby daddies "do that as a side job" blowing my inbox and phone up.
It has to be Texas windstorm certified. Windows and siding. That is not something you just slap on the side of the house.
I'm going to demand they be insured and bonded ( "but he will cut you a deal!" ) fuck you. Insured. Bonded.
And this isn't a simple siding job. This is a home built in 1965. Old wood siding with possible asbestos removal (we aren't sure) there is also some wood repair and structural seal repair at the rear of the home.
I don't want some guy who swings a hammer on the weekends. Ffs

Professionals all the way! Jobs like that have to be done well to last for years.
I wouldn't give that company another chance no matter what their prices. I don't chase anyone to give them large amounts of my money. Not showing up and then lying about calling are red flags that this job is not going to go well if done by them. I would write them off.

He showed and was actually incredibly nice. Quote was almost 6k. I could kinda shoot the guy who put 14 windows on such a small house
