What do you all do for thanksgiving? I have a few recipes I've done a few times, attempting to create my own tradition, but we seem to always get invited to someone else house so I always just bring hash brown casserole.
What kinds of yummy things do you all like to do for Thanksgiving?

We deep fry our turkey every year, and I make up mashed potatoes. Beyond that, it changes every year. Mostly because I keep trying to make something "easy" and it ends in utter failure.

It's the best. You can cook a 20 lb turkey in just over an hour, and then use your oven for anything else. My favorites include burnt rolls, green bean casserole that's more than 1/2 fried onions, and ham that no one eats (frickin' NO one Grandma, so stop making it!). You should try it.

I go all out. And I do everything but the turkey at the deer camp. I cook a full multi course meal. Love it ?

All I ever see are people fucking up the turkey frying and causing great fires. But I LOVE ham! I also love brisket and I think if I had it my way I'd do brisket with some yummy sides. I have this carrot bake I love to do, it's got onions and swiss cheese. thanksgiving.food.com/recipe/baked-carrots-with-swiss-cheese-and-bacon-340722So good.

Awesome. A word on green bean casserole. I love it. It's wrong, and I love it. I know that it takes a great veggie and robs it of all it's merits. Mushroom soup holds a gun to green beans sayin, "Give me all your nutrients. All of them. I can see you hiding a vitamin behind your back. I said ALL! Where you're going, you won't need them". I get it. But I looove that nasty mushroom soup swimming pool. I dive into the deep end (and scrape extra onions on there. Oh, sorry. Did you want some?"). It's just so terrible and wonderful all at once. However, I cannot understand how it made it's way to the table of a holiday meal that largely consists of foods that you aren't willing to commit the time to make on the other 364 days of the year. It literally requires opening two cans, stirring the contents of those cans, and throwing something on top. I started making it when I was 8!! I don't get it.

Shhhhhh..... Don't ask why. Just enjoy.
I love it, but there are some of my guests that won't eat mushrooms, so I sub the mushroom soup for cream of chicken. It's good, but it's not the same.
