I don't know how to cook. It's not that I don't try, but I wing everything (unnecessarily, because I know what recipes and Google are...) typically with disastrous results. Every time, I learn something new and avoid the same mistakes in the future. Tonight's lesson: Coconut cooking oil has a very low smoke point. I ran out of olive oil, and needed to cook salmon, so coconut oil seemed like a good substitute. Nope. My house looks like I'm running a fog machine. The first batch of fish burnt. The second batch dried out. Severely. Right now, I'm enjoying a nice plate of salmon jerky. Yum.

Lol looks delicious. But yea..gotta be careful with coconut. I don't fry with olive oil. Sautee only.

LOL, it did look good, and it also had good flavor, but I don't think salmon is supposed to crunch. :/
I typically cook everything in olive oil. I would say that I never had a problem with it, but I've had a problem with everything I've ever cooked. That may have been a factor.

I usually do fish in the oven, I mostly make cod or mahi. I found an avocado oil spray I like, it's expensive but it's good.
