This is amazing to me, and I'm surprised that it didn't get more press. Maybe I'm living under a rock. Synopsis: A woman who was born without a uterus received a uterine transplant from a 61 year old donor. A year later, she got pregnant via in-vitro (on the first try!) and had a premature, but perfectly healthy baby. I had to find it in 4 different legit sources to satisfy myself that it's true. I'm surprised they chose a donor uterus from someone so old I think it was a woman who knew them and offered. It wasn't in the states, so I'm not sure what kind of formal, legal, medical constraints they had to adhere to. It almost seemed like it was so completely "out there" that they didn't have many expectations that it would work. As if these two women are having coffee in some cafe, talking about infertility and one of them was like, "Well, you can have my womb. Only used it once, and it's a bit old and cobwebby, but maybe you could take it home, give it a good polish and see if you can get it going again." |

I would have donated my uterus, but it wasn't worth crap when they took it out. It was all twisted and had strange things growing in it and around it.
