I don't know how it works down south, but I know up here, the trade and technical schools are much cheaper, offer flexible classes to work around work and family and are more likely to offer real employment after you're done. When I was deciding what to take (before I decided to quit ) I looked at all the job opportunities, figured out which trade was most in demand and enrolled in that course for 6 grand a year, which is reasonable and doable in my mind. I'm going to re-enroll next year I think. By then I'll be off probabtion at work, so they'll have to work around my school schedule and Patrick will be in school full time so that schedulling around the kids is easier.

I have only 15 college classes left. Going to have a degree in history. Should only have around $8500 in student loans to pay back when all is said and done. I highly encourage you to go to a community college to get the basics out of the way.

I haven't used my degree in the last few years. But now I'm up for a promotion at work that requires a college degree. I still won't be teaching but having my bachelor's will let me move into this new position. So I guess it's not useless...
